2019 Conference: August 9 – 11
Native American Student and Community Center, Portland, Oregon
The Native American Student & Community Center (NASCC) is a gathering space to celebrate and empower student success through culturally relevant programming, academic support, and inter-generational community engagement to preserve and perpetuate inter-tribal connection for Native American/Alaskan Native/Pacific Islander students and our allies through tradition, ceremony, and storytelling. The NASCC is one of five Cultural Resource Centers at PSU and is a part of Diversity and Multicultural Student Services.
The NASCC features a standard classroom, two conference rooms, full-service kitchen, computer lab, a fireplace lounge, and an eco-roof garden. An aerial view of the NASCC reveals the salmon-shaped design of the building, with rooftop walkways and ramps designed to represent the fish’s scales and backside.
Completed in 2003, the NASCC would not have happened without the hard work and dedication of our Native American elders, community members, leaders, PSU alumni, staff, and faculty.
The NASCC is located at 710 SW Jackson St., Portland, OR 97201 and is open weekdays from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. You can contact the front desk by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 503-725-9695. There are two accessible entrances to the NASCC, please see the NASCC ADA Access Map (PDF) for more information.
Paid parking is available in the area at PSU Shattuck Parking Lot, across the street from the NASCC, or at PSU Parking Structure #1, two blocks from the venue, as well as limited on-street parking at City of Portland meters. All spots are subject to availability. Nearby transit stops include the PSU South MAX stop (serving Green, Orange, and Yellow lines) and service on the 8 and 68 TriMet bus lines.
